Alcohol Info: Do mixed drinks lose alcohol content once opened?

Do mixed drinks lose alcohol content once opened?Sunday morning after a small party, i found a couple of "Smirnoff Ice" cans with hardly anything drunk out of them, so i poured them both into a drink bottle. They have gone flat and are not fizzy, but does this mean they have also lost their alcohol content?

Answer by Devon
No - they lost the carbonation

Alcohol cannot evaporate in drinks. Over a long period of time (VERY long), water will evaporate, resulting in a more alcohol-concentrated drink.
What you experienced in carbon-loss, where the CO2 bubbles continued to rise to the top of the liquid and pop! into the air, thus resulting in a flat drink - the same thing happens with soda.
Better off tossing that stuff, though. If they were cans, that means they were left uncovered... an invitation for bacteria, fruit flies, or even just dust to crawl on in there and have their own party. It won't kill ya, but it'll be gross.
Cheers.

(EDIT)
My mistake... of course alcohol CAN evaporate. I obviously wasn't quite awake when answering this question, but overnight will not cause evaporation of alcohol by any means. It evaporates faster then water when boiled, but room temp wouldn't cause the evaporation rate you're talking about.
Don't want to misinform you...
Cheers.

alcohol CAN evaporate, and has a lower boiling point than water, so WILL evaporate more than the water content of a drink. However, over one night, the loss of content is unlikely to be significant.
