Do you think controls on alcohol advertisements and promoting its potential negative effects are a good idea?

Do you think controls on alcohol advertisements and promoting its potential negative effects are a good idea? This has been done with smoking over the past several years - at least in CANADA. There is absolutely no promotional or advertising methods aloud for cigarettes any longer. They even teach its "evils" in public school classes. I think alcohol is ultimately more detrimental than tobacco. I don't mind this move against tobacco but I think the government has completely missed the boat when it comes to deterring youth from alcohol - not to mention other drugs.

Well in England advertising tobacco has been illegal since I can remember and I am 18.. so yeh. Nah there is still loads of advertising for alcohol.. I mean why not? Its your responsibility to drink responsibly.. unlike smoking where every cigarette is harmful.

Jeeze! I agree with you.. all this health and safety business is too strict! x x x

People are going to do what they want to do no matter what is advertised about it. The TRUTH commercials that promote the negative side effects about smoking are extremely irritating in my opinion and do nothing to prevent teenagers from wanting to smoke or adults who already smoke. There is nothing more detrimental than cigarettes, and they kill more people each year than alcohol and illegal drugs combined. Advertising it's negative effects isn't going to change anything.
