Alcohol Info: Has my alcohol consumption caused me to gain weight?

Has my alcohol consumption caused me to gain weight?I am 39 years old and over the past year I have had a drink / glass or two of wine about 3 times a week (depending on the day I had at work) and maybe on the weekend one day. I have gradually picked up ten pounds. Do you think the amount of alcohol I drink although not too terribly much, has caused my weight gain? I have not changed anything else about what i eat and have always been pretty sensible. I decided I would limit drinking to weekends and see what happens.
I don't eat a lot of junk food. I am 5'7" and weigh 145 pounds. I SHOULD weigh 135. That is normal for me.

Yeah alcohol does make you gain weight but since your age your metabolism might be changing and slowing down.

Welcome to the club! That's what happens when you get old-- you have to eat a lot less and exercise a lot more just to NOT gain weight, let alone lose it. I'm 38 and had to bust my ass and really make an effort to lose 20 pounds over the past 5 months. I used to eat anything I wanted and never gain an ounce, but that changed after 30. Don't give up the wine, but eat less and exercise more. I'm going to turn 40 in better shape and skinnier than I was when I was 18! You can too!
