Can you drink alcohol on antibiotics? My friend is taking Cephalexin 500 MG and wants to have a beer, but isn't sure if it is bad to take some alcohol while on the medication. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Most medicine is not good to have with alcohol because it amplifies it's affects. Talk to his doctor.

Cephalexin should not be combined with alcohol. It is a common fact that a person under medication should avoid alcohol consumption. Cephalexin antibiotic has an indication on their packaging materials that it is not be taken when a person is drinking any form of alcoholic drink. Drinking alcohol may cause nausea and stomach upset.

It's a common misconception that alcohol and antibiotics are incompatible.
There are SPECIFIC (and little used) antibiotics that react with alcocol, making you sick. They will be very well labelled!
Almost all antibiotics are unaffected by alcohol, but obviously you may want to lay off alcohol for a while when feeling sick!
