This is obviously not very likely and I'm wondering how long the period is between having a drink and the alcohol completely leaving your body.

The rate at which alcohol is metabolized is the same for virtually everyone regardless of their height, weight, sex, race or other such characteristics.
Alcohol is metabolized at the rate of .015 of blood alcohol concentration (BAC) every hour. 1 Thus a person with a very high BAC of .15 will have no measurable alcohol in the bloodstream after ten hours (.15 divided by .015 = 10).

Well, after having just completed a DUI class that basically teaches you how to beat a DUI....they say that it is an hour for every drink. So, you must take into account wether or not you have eaten during drinking and also your body weight.

according to the ASAP classes i had to take it takes 1-2 hours for one beer or shot to leave your system.so if you drink 12 you need 12 hours of not drinking to clear your system.
