How much alcohol and in what time span will affect liver function test results? This is a follow up question from an earlier question.
I had an elevated LFT result a few weeks ago, ruled out Hepatitis by blood test.
A. Could it be due to 1200-1800 mg of ibuprofen and hydrocodone I was taking during the time for my wisdom teeth?
B. And if not, could it be alcohol? More importantly, how much alcohol does it take to affect those tests? I hadn't drank for 3 days or so before the test.
Thanks

It is regular alcohol use that elevates the liver enzymes, not what you had 3 days before your test. Your doctor would have mentioned to you about the medications possibly causing this if he believed this was too much (2400 mg of ibuprofen per 24 hours is max). Illness of any kind can also raise liver enzymes, depending on the type of illness that occurs. Your doctor will have to sort this out.

Every person is different - that test is a snap shot of how your body is functioning. You had put a severe load on your liver and it showed and may take a while for the liver to heal. Look at the back of your pill bottles - they all worn not to take if you drink - some say 2 drinks a day. I think ibuprofen is filtered through your kidneys but still may warn of liver problems. There are industrial toxins that you come in contact with too that your liver has to deal with.
