Health question about liver and alcohol?I usually drink like 12 to 14 beers then sleep it off for most of a day. Basically I go about 2 maybe 3 days in between drinking alcohol. and was just wondering if this could lead to cirrohsis of the liver? I've been drinking for about 3 years. I drink plenty of water, eat well take vitamins, and get lots of sleep and I'm young and used to exercise on a regular basis but not anymore. I always feel tired?

Thats almost 50 beers a week! Yeah that can seriously damage your liver. I would suggest you get some help. Not trying to be mean, that is really really unhealthy.

There is no set timeline for the damage that alcohol can cause. It's mostly genetic. Alot of people think that beer is ok because it's not liquor. Not true. Alcohol is alcohol in the body.

Alcohol is a very common cause of cirrhosis, particularly in the Western world. The development of cirrhosis depends upon the amount and regularity of alcohol intake. Chronic, high levels of alcohol consumption injure liver cells. Thirty percent of individuals who drink daily at least eight to sixteen ounces of hard liquor or the equivalent for fifteen or more years will develop cirrhosis. Alcohol causes a range of liver diseases; from simple and uncomplicated fatty liver (steatosis), to the more serious fatty liver with inflammation (steatohepatitis or alcoholic hepatitis), to cirrhosis.
So, what does that mean to you. one beer is the equivalent to a shot of hard liquor. So yes, your actions definitely could lead to cirrhosis of the liver. You need to ask yourself why you need to drink so much at one time and based on your answer move forward in a positive manner from there.
Alcohol in and of itself is not a bad thing. It is the overuse or abuse of alcohol when IS.
The fact that you are concerned is a good sign. Now make the next step and get your drinking under control.
I know you can do it and I wish you well.
