Alcohol causes Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. It can stunt growth and weight, cause facial deformities, and mental/behavioral impairments.

There is no safe amount of alcohol to drink while pregnant. Although some people say if you have a small amount it might not hurt the baby, every pregnancy is different and you might end up hurting your child. If you drink during the pregnancy, especially excessively, this has an effect on the baby's development because everything that the mother takes in the baby takes in also. Drinking during a pregnancy can result in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome whereby the baby will be underdeveloped mentally and/or physically and have a lot of other terrible side effects. Do not drink during your pregnancy...again, there is no safe amount!!!

When you drink alchohal you are essentially drinking poisen. but your liver filters most of the *deadly* toxins out. But, there is still some left in your blood, and that blood also goes to your baby. And, your baby, being so tiny and under developed gets hit alot harder by the poisen, often causing it to be horribly deformed. (mentally or physically). It could also kill it.
