Does alcohol cause penicillin to become ineffective?I have always heard that but I have read the drug information pamphlet and looked several places online and I don't see that it says that anywhere.

Well if it does, I can't seem to find it in any of the information. Call your pharmacy and ask someone there.

No, it does not effect it directly but if you're taking penicillin you must have an infection somewhere and alcohol inhibits your immune system from doing it's job. It would just be best to not drink while you're sick with anything.
