What is the difference in calories between hard alcohol and beer?Like a shot of vodka compared to an average beer, not light? I know the alcohol content is the same but what about the calories?
Answer by linda w
The calories are going to be about the same, however, beer can differ so much. You have light beers, micro beers which are heavier and higher in calories. It also depends on what you are mixing your hard liquor with.

Calories in alcohol and beer are both high.
Alcohol also lowers your body's ability to burn off fat as only a small portion of the drink is converted into fat. Your liver then converts the rest of the alcohol into acetate; releases the acetate into the bloodstream and replaces fat as a source of burning.
With the high calories in alcohol, you'll store the excess amount of unburned fat in your body.
